From the classics to the latest releases

The world's most complete book descriptions — on your platform.

Scripta Mundi writes encyclopedic descriptions of the works you sell — the author, the edition, every contributor — then hands them to you as a ready-to-embed widget. You do nothing. We do everything.

Bought once. Owned forever. Reused every time the edition returns to your shelves.

The bookseller's dilemma

You don't own your visibility. You rent it.

Every month, booksellers and libraries pay to be found — and own nothing in return.

Search engines

Rented position

SEO is a monthly bill. Stop paying and your books vanish from the first page. The traffic was never yours.

Global platforms

5–10% on every sale

Marketplaces charge commission on each book sold — plus listing fees — for the privilege of being seen.

Thin metadata

Catalogues that don't rank

A title, a price, a line of condition. Google has nothing rich to index — so buyers never find you.

Two ways to be found online

An asset you own — or rent you never stop paying.

The old way

SEO + platform commissions

  • A recurring monthly cost, forever
  • 5–10% commission on every single sale
  • Listing fees, sometimes per item
  • Visibility ends the moment you stop paying
  • You build authority for someone else's domain
Rent you never stop paying.
The Scripta Mundi way

Buy the description once

  • Pay once per edition — own it permanently
  • Reuse it every time the edition returns to stock
  • Rich content Google wants to index — on your domain
  • No commission. No listing fee. No rent.
  • Authority and traffic accrue to you, not a marketplace
An asset on your balance sheet.

One is rent. The other is property. Do the math.

Inside every description

Not metadata. A scholarly dossier.

Every description covers the work, its author, the specific edition, and every contributor — with full biographies, historical context, and critical analysis, cross-linked and ready to read.

W

The Work

Detailed description, historical context, critical reception, major translations and adaptations.

A

The Author

Narrative biography, geographic-historical context, methodology.

E

The Edition

Edition-specific notes — first edition, critical editions, place, year, language, format.

C

Every Contributor

Editor, translator, illustrator, engraver, cartographer, binder — each with its own biography.

Florin Valentin Marin — founder, among the books.

The person behind the work

Not a software company. One of you.

My name is Florin Valentin Marin. For twenty-five years I worked as an antiquarian bookseller — handling, cataloguing and selling rare and old books. I am also a collector of military history; my own shelves hold more than five hundred volumes on Napoleon Bonaparte alone.

Like every bookseller who moved online, I ran into the same wall. To be found, you either rent visibility through SEO, or you sell on national and global marketplaces and surrender a commission on every sale. Either way you depend on giants — and you own nothing.

Over the last five years I tested every alternative I could find. The conclusion was always the same: the one thing the search engines cannot ignore is deep, original, scholarly content on your own website — a complete account of a work and every contributor behind it, two thousand words at minimum, sometimes well past seven thousand for the great books. That is the asset Google indexes and rewards, and your visibility grows in step with the number of descriptions you own. Scripta Mundi is that method, turned into a service.

Scripta Mundi is a specialised bibliographic studio. I founded it, I set its standards, and I supervise every description personally. The research is accelerated by AI under expert bibliographic oversight — never invented, always grounded in verifiable sources. For a library, that means a richly described collection that becomes a cultural hub in its own right. For a bookseller, it means visibility you build once and keep forever.

I built this because I needed it myself. I am not here to sell you an illusion — I am here to share what finally worked.

Our commitment to you

Honest data, or no data.

No invented data

We draw exclusively from verifiable sources. No fictional contributors are ever added to inflate a description.

Incomplete is honest

For some works, sections will be empty — not through error, but because the sources don't provide it. We won't fabricate.

Your right to refuse

For well-founded reasons, you may refuse any description you judge inaccurate. We consider that a fair condition of partnership.

Pay only for what we deliver

Lost packages, weak data, tier reclassification — that's our production cost, never yours. You pay for quality you accept.

Where this is going

A bibliographic memory for the whole world — a modern Library of Alexandria.

Every description we write is a node in a growing knowledge graph connecting works, authors, editions and contributors across centuries. Today it powers your catalogue. Tomorrow it becomes a cultural hub in its own right.
